PhD in Education. Researcher in Political Science, Education, Cultural Identity, National Identity, International Relations. Experienced Advisor in the higher education industry, namely in International Relations, International Students and International Cooperation. Skilled in Qualitative Research, Project Management, Public Administration and Nonprofit Organizations Management.
Ângelo Ferreira earned his doctorate in Education from the University of Aveiro, having as supervisors Professor António Neto-Mendes, from the same university, and Professor Onésimo Teotónio Almeida, from Brown University (USA). Prior to that he earned a master’s degree in Public Management and a degree in Biology and Geology Teaching (5 year degree, licenciatura) from the same university. Ângelo is now a researcher at the University of Aveiro.
For the two last decades, he has also been working in international cooperation to enhance Education quality in developing countries. From 2001 to 2004, he held the position of representative of the Foundation of Portuguese Universities in Timor-Leste, locally coordinating the higher education program taught in Portuguese. He has been deputy coordinator of the project “Falar Português – Curricular Restructuring of General Secondary Education in Timor-Leste” (2009-2013), which produced the curriculum in force in the country, the corresponding syllabus and teaching materials, student textbooks and teacher’s guides, whose copyrights were offered to the people of Timor.
From 2005 to 2017, he advised the university’s rectory on internationalization and international cooperation, having special responsibilities in attracting and hosting international students.
